It should be noted that ALL transactions are prohibited in google wallet. Sound stupid? It is. Section 6 and 7 are blanket terms that allows them to prohibit ANY transaction for ANY reason. This includes “business transactions and donations/gifts”. That is effectively 100% of ALL transactions no matter what they are for. If you are found to be draining the account balance as soon as money hits it either by using the CC for purchases or bank transfer you can expect to get the following or similar email:

Hello *******(,

It appears that you may be receiving business transactions in Send Money with Gmail. If this is the case we wanted to offer a friendly reminder that the peer to peer service is intended for Google Wallet customers to send money to other persons only and that business transactions, commercial transactions, or donations are not allowed.

If you are not receiving business transactions in Send Money with Gmail, please respond with what the transactions are for so we can better understand the nature of your activity.

Business or commercial transactions are not allowed under Sections 6 and 7 of the Google Wallet Terms of Service, and Google Wallet may decline to process such transactions or close your account if we find that you are using your account for these purposes.

Of you then receive any money for any reason (including transferring money from your vank to wallet) They will “freeze” and cancel the account effectively stealing the money or holding it hostage while its in their accounts gaining interest. I speak from experience. DO NOT USE GOOGLE WALLET.

So what happens if someone scans your card with a second device or copies the information off your card and charges something to your account later? Good that you can set the amount of money at risk.

I would imagine a lot of finger pointing as to Google telling me to deal with my bank and the bank telling me to deal with Google.

because it’s so easily links with a bank account and it doesn’t automatically top off it is a very valuable buffer when you’re trying to make payments very quickly or say an instance where you’re trying to pay to a specific person that you’re not particularly familiar with or the Services the automatically deduct from your account each month you can use as a buffer so that they don’t automatically overdraw your account if for some reason the funds are available at that time. So basically to reiterate what I stated above its a valuable buffer at least to me.

If there are no identifying marks on the card ( basically a “bearer” card) then I would use it to hand to my teenagers, loaded with a specific amount and give them the pin. This way when they are out by themselves at an event that requires money/purchases (amusement park, the mall, state fair) they can make purchases without dealing with cash. And, if they lose it, I can cancel the access to the funds. Teenagers cannot easily get their own debit cards so this could help as you could pass it amoung your different kids Otherwise I would not use it for myself, as it duplicates what I already have.
