You nailed it on the head when you said that the Tab card is a middle ground between traditional payments and an HCE pub app. In a period when consumer acceptance of mobile payments is sluggish, why not act quickly to capitalize on a quirky technology that brings in customers? Another value add to this type of system is capturing data about food and drink preferences then tying it to the card given when a customer walks in. The use of these analytics can greatly improve the customer experience by offering tailored promotions, order-ahead abilities, and real-time management of inventory.
